The Challenge

A recently acquired hospital, located in a geographically challenging area, was experiencing high vacancy rates and overreliance on costly travel nurses. Recruitment leadership aimed to eliminate dependency on contingent labor within a year and urgently needed to hire 25 CNAs to stabilize care. With limited brand visibility and ongoing turnover, the system required a strategic recruitment partner who could act fast and improve long-term workforce sustainability.

Our Approach

We addressed critical staffing challenges across multiple disciplines with a targeted, tech-enabled, and retention-driven recruitment strategy tailored to the hospital’s operational and clinical priorities.

Targeted Sourcing

We prioritized RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, using a mix of national sourcing and local outreach. We also emphasized relocation-readiness, leveraging our healthcare talent network, job boards, and social platforms to find qualified professionals willing to join a rural hospital environment.

Recruitment Marketing

We spotlighted the benefits of working in the local community, highlighting work-life balance, cost of living, and professional development, while strengthening the employer brand with messaging aligned to long-term vision and culture.

Screening & Onboarding

Using Acuity and other automation tools, we reduced application-to-offer time from 18 days to 5. In collaboration with HR, we streamlined onboarding for faster starts and implemented retention strategies that supported new hires through early integration, reducing turnover risk.

Results

In just one year, eHospitalHire delivered transformative results for this newly acquired hospital. We hired 93 RNs, nearly eliminating reliance on travel nurses, plus 16 LPNs and 80 CNAs, far exceeding the original 25-hire goal. By integrating sourcing, branding, tech-enabled screening, and onboarding strategies, we stabilized the workforce, enhanced care delivery, and improved budgetary health. These outcomes highlight the power of RPO when tailored to the unique demands of rural and high-vacancy healthcare environments.
